Goods-to-Person (G2P) systems, also known as Goods-to-Operator (GTO), bring inventory directly to the pick operator, eliminating unnecessary walking and significantly improving picking speed, accuracy, and storage space utilization. Types of Goods-to-Person Automation
There are four unique categories of G2P automation - module-based, aisle-based, cube-based, and corral-based. Each has their own strengths within fulfillment operations. The Solutions Development process defines the best fit.
Module-Based G2P
Best for: Low-velocity SKUs, brownfield retrofits, kitting, and mid-sized warehouses.
Robots access inventory and deliver it directly to pick stations within a self-contained subsystem. Multiple modules can be connected via conveyor to pass the orders to the modules where the SKU resides - Combined with intelligent software to optimize picking, offering unparalleled accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

Aisle-Based G2P
Best for: High-volume fulfillment centers with large SKU populations.
Designed for high-volume ecommerce and retail fulfillment, these multi-aisle shuttle systems use lifts and conveyors to deliver totes, cartons, or trays directly to workstations with speed and precision. The approach supports the widest range of SKUs, heavy totes and cartons, and can accommodate single, double, or quad-deep storage to maximize density. With very high mechanical throughput rates this solution offers dense, flexible storage for operations that need performance at scale.
Cube-Based G2P
Best for: Operations with moderate to high order volumes, moderate SKU populations with smaller products, and dense storage needs.
Robots retrieve stacked bins from a grid system and deliver them to ports around the perimeter. Each robot has access to every SKU and pick station. Compact, scalable, and well-suited for small-item or multi-SKU bin applications.
Corral-Based G2P
Best for: Flexible, scalable operations with growing SKU counts.
Robots retrieve bins from shallow-depth racking and deliver them to decoupled manual or automated workstations. Capable of shelf or tote-to-person as well as unit, full case, or pallet level movement. Highly configurable with minimal infrastructure and strong redundancy.
