- ASRS Solutions | Shuttle, Mini-Load, Robotics & G2P Systems | TREW
Automated storage & retrieval (ASRS) solutions to save space and boost throughput using robotics, mini-loads, shuttles, and goods-to-person systems. HOME SOLUTIONS STORAGE & RETRIEVAL Storage & Retrieval (ASRS) To maximize storage utilization, ASRS solutions “work the cube” by leveraging vertical space to increase floor capacity and density. These systems automate the storage and retrieval of inventory, minimizing manual travel and increasing the density of storage. ASRS technologies range from Shuttles, Mini-Loads, Cubic ASRS, to robotics and are selected based on the material to be handled, throughput, and space utilization goals. Most ASRS Systems Fall Into One of Three Categories: BUFFERING Buffering stores work-in-progress (WIP) or completed orders until they’re needed, allowing operations to work ahead of peaks, order commitment times, or labor availability. The orders stored in the buffer are retrieved and delivered at the time they are needed for shipping. SEQUENCING Sequencing stores completed orders or work in process, retrieving containers in the order they are needed. A common application for completed orders is reverse truck stop loading. In this case, orders are flowed to shipping so that the truck is loaded with orders for its last stop first, and the first stop last. PICKING ASRS picking typically involves slow- to medium-moving inventory that is retrieved and presented to an operator. This is typically the most complicated of the solutions, requiring a high level of coordination between overall operations and the ASRS system to optimize the solution so inventory and orders flow efficiently through a building. Benefits of ASRS ASRS increases labor productivity by delivering the right item at the right time with up to 99.99% accuracy. These solutions can be tailored to different operational needs, depending on how inventory is stored and retrieved, and are ideal for improving picking speed, accuracy, and overall space utilization. Types of ASRS Technologies Mobile Robotic Goods-to-Operator Robotic Goods-to-Operator systems use autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to automate put-away, storage, replenishment, and order picking. Flexible and modular, these systems easily adapt to changing inventory and order volumes, scaling by adding robots or racks as needed. AMRs bring inventory racks to operator stations, where workers pick and consolidate items for each order. High Density Case Storage The i-Collector is a three-dimensional dynamic storage system used to buffer totes and trays. It can store individual containers or stacked loads, with induction and retrieval handled manually or through automation. The system is based on proven technology and can be sized to fit new and existing facilities. Robotic Aisle Picking Perfect Pick is a robotic solution that combines tote storage, robotic shuttles, and goods-to-operator picking station into a single aisle design that can easily expanded as businesses grow and ideal for ecommerce, micro-fulfillment, retail, wholesale, and parts fulfillment. ® cASRS-to-Operator Infinity is a robotic cASRS (cubic ASRS) high density storage system that brings together large and patented n-Deep tote storage with iBots that can access the entire storage array and each presentation station. The result is a configurable, flexible, resilient, fast and accurate picking system ideal for ecommerce and micro-fulfillment, store replenishment, parts/wholesale distribution and fulfillment. ® Mini-Load System Shuttle System Mini-Load & Shuttle Systems Mini-load and shuttle systems are high-density ASRS solutions used across ambient, chilled, and frozen environments to support ecommerce, omnichannel, and wholesale fulfillment. Mini-load is best for low to medium throughput, while shuttles are suited for higher performance needs. The main difference lies in storage interaction: mini-loads use a single load handler on a mast, while shuttles assign vehicles to each level. Choosing the right system depends on your performance goals, inventory profile, and how the subsystems work together - making solution flow design a critical part of success. Finding the Right Fit Every warehouse is different. At Trew, we help you choose the ASRS technology that best fits your: Integration timing Overall order flow Container type Inventory induction, storage, and retrieval Whether you’re working with an existing facility or starting from scratch, automated storage & retrieval systems can deliver labor efficiency, better accuracy, and smarter use of vertical space. - Warehouse Robotics | Smart Fulfillment & AMR Integration | TREW
Flexible robotic automation integrated with WES/WCS for picking, sortation, palletizing, and goods-to-operator workflows in modern fulfillment centers. HOME SOLUTIONS ROBOTICS Robotics Warehouse robotics are point solutions designed to handle tasks like transporting, picking, packing, or sorting goods. These technologies include autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), robotic arms, and other intelligent equipment that move and work alongside people. Unlike traditional fixed automation that is best for high-volume, consistent workflows - robotics offer flexible, scalable solutions that can adapt to changing inventory, order patterns, and business demands. Benefits of Warehouse Robots Robotics bring the speed and consistency of automation with the adaptability of manual labor. They help boost throughput, reduce reliance on hard-to-staff roles, and scale with your operation - whether you’re navigating peak seasons or long-term growth. Robotics can be deployed faster than many fixed systems and, when integrated with warehouse software, give you greater visibility, control, and return on investment across your fulfillment operation. Types of Robotics Automation Goods-to-Robot Each Picking Core™ Robotic Picking System provides automated picking tote-tote, tote-bag, tote-box, etc. converting goods-to-person stations into goods-to-robot stations. The Core™ picks a wide variety of items, rapidly identifying and picks them without needing pre-programmed SKU information using built-in algorithms to measure and adjust grip quality for accurate transfers. Mobile Robotic Goods-To-Operator Robotic Goods-to-Operator uses autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to create a storage and retrieval picking subsystem that includes put-away, inventory storage, replenishment and order picking. The solution is very flexible in how it adapts to changing inventory profiles and order volumes. The modular system architecture of this approach can scale to increase storage volume or fulfillment throughput independently by adding more storage racks or robots, as needed. The subsystem works by tracking inventory stored in racks and bringing the racks required to fulfill an order to an operator station. The operator performs a pick from racks as they are presented, and consolidates items required for an order. Robotic Put Walls Sure Sort is a compact scalable small-item sorting system alternative to traditional put wall that can be applied in order consolidation, retail replenishment, inbound SKU, kiting, returns and parcel sortation applications. ® Shuttle Sortation Stride™ Shuttle Sorter is an automated store replenishment fulfillment & sortation alternative to put walls and item loop sortation that can increase order fulfillment by up to 4X, maximize shipping container cube utilization by up to 10%, and fit in a compact footprint. Articulated Arm Robotics Articulated Arm Robotics automates the handling of pallets, cases and totes to address applications where repetitive motion or heavy lifting by an operator could cause injury or fatigue. A range of applications can be solved such as outbound order palletizing, inbound case depalletizing, or decasing inventory into totes. Finding the Right Fit Every warehouse is different. At Trew, we help you choose the robotics technology that best fits your: Order volume Fulfillment goals Whether you’re working with an existing facility or starting from scratch, robotics can deliver scalability, flexibility, and positive return on investments. Scalable sortation technology - from unit sorters to loop systems - integrated with PLC and WCS for warehouse throughput and precise product handling. Top of Page LRS MRS HRS HOME SOLUTIONS SORTATION Sortation Getting items to the right place at the right time is a fundamental need in fulfillment operations. Success requires a combination of software, hardware, and know-how to create the right solution. Sorter applications include facility routing, order consolidation, inventory distribution, workstation balancing, buffering, staging, shipping and more; often functions mission critical for operations. Types of Sortation Whether the application is shipping, facility routing, order consolidation, inventory distribution, workstation balancing, buffering, or staging, designing the right sortation solution takes more than picking a piece of equipment. It starts with understanding the items being handled, the rate required, how products are packaged, how they’re inducted, and how they exit the sorter. Add to that the flow of the building, the sorter’s technical capabilities, and its ability to adapt to business changes. When applied correctly, sortation unlocks operational capacity and efficiency. When it’s not, it becomes a bottleneck that can impact the entire operation.
